Stove Gloves

People have been living with wood stoves for thousands of years. Still they are popular and the gloves used for handling them are called the stove gloves. Normally they are made of thick leather in order to protect the hands of the user. They extend a little beyond the wrist.

Used for handling fire wood and to remove ash from the stoves, these leather gloves are lined with wool or any other such material to make them comfortable for the user’s hand. Often they come in pairs and have hanging loops to hang on a hook near the fire place.

The length of an average glove will be around 12” and the leather used most often is suede. Some of them have reinforced palms in order to make them more effective against heat. They allow the uses to even handle a piece of fire wood inside flames for a short time.

Leather used in stove gloves is treated in such a way that the gloves won’t lose their flexibility even after repeated exposure to high temperature. Therefore, these gloves could be used for a long time. All these gloves have reinforced seams.

Some stove gloves, especially the ones for use with grills are made of fiber in order to provide better flexibility. Often these gloves could be reversed for use with either hand. As they are lined with silicon on both sides they never get stained easily. You get stove gloves in a few colors and in a wide price range to enable you to choose the right one that suits you.
