In any sport, protection to hands, feet and face is of prime importance. In football it is of special importance to protect your hands and feet in addition to your face. Protection to hands is provided by gloves. However, the gloves should help the player’s game play also.
In order to help the receivers to catch the ball easily, the gloves of receivers are specially designed to make it easier to catch the ball. They wear a special type of gloves called the tact gloves. They have a sticky piece of rubber on their palms in order to not to allow the ball to slip from the player’s hands. Some players prefer to wear normal gloves and use a sticky spray such as rosin for the same purpose.
In contrast, the linemen wear a different type of glove. They don’t need to catch the ball but they need to handle the opposing linemen. Therefore, they need to wear gloves with better padding. This is because a glove could get entangled in the head gear of a player or his hand could get trampled by a player when they are in a pack.
Unlike in many other games in football, different players need different types of gloves to make the best game play. Therefore, the glove manufacturers need to concentrate on fulfilling their requirements. Also when players buy their gloves, they need to take care in order to find the best pair of gloves that match his position and his style of playing the game.
